Why is a vitamin D patch better than pills or powder?
A transdermal patch delivers Vitamin D into the bloodstream completely avoiding the gastrointestinal tract where malabsorption issues can impact the amount of Vitamin D that enters the bloodstream.
Do I wear the patch on certain parts of my body?
Yes. The areas that are best are the stomach, back, thigh, buttocks, etc. Try to avoid areas where clothing binds tightly or where the skin is stretched frequently.
Can I shower, or get the patch wet?
absorbD3 recommends that you take the patch off when showering or getting wet and apply a new one as soon as your skin is dry.
Will the patch irritate my skin?
Studies conducted at a public university by a leading dermatologist demonstrated that our proprietary system causes unacceptable irritation less often that the leading transdermal products currently on the market.
Can I get too much Vitamin D?
Yes. According to a sub-committee of the FDA, daily doses of up to 4,000 IU’s can be taken without getting too much Vitamin D.
Can I wear more than one Vitamin D patch at a time?
Yes. absorbD3 doesn’t recommend doing so.
Are there any side effects from wearing a patch?
All supplements and medications can have side effects. Testing that has been done on patient populations doesn’t indicate that there will be any for the majority of people.
How do I store the Vitamin D patch?
In a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight (if possible).
Can I take the patches through security with my carry-on luggage?
Yes. TSA screeners should have no issues with a box or two of patches.
Do the patches contain caffeine?
No.
How often do I change the patch?
Once a day.
Is there an expiration date on the patches?
Not at present. The shelf life of the patch is expected to be more than two years. When testing has been completed, that information will appear on the label. The FDA won’t allow us to make a shelf life statement before completing the aforementioned study.
Are the patches Ephedra free?
Yes.
Do the patches contain any other active ingredients besides Vitamin D?
No.
Are there any types of contra-indications or cases where I should not use the patch?
Yes. Individuals with high calcium, high vitamin d and high phosphate levels or kidney disease should seek advice from their HCP before taking any Vitamin D supplement (ours or any other).
Can I wear the patch if I am allergic to aspirin?
Yes. Always be attentive to unexpected outcomes from using or taking any supplement.
Are there consequences to missing a day if I am using the patch on a daily basis?
No. It is always better to be consistent but missing one day is not a serious event.
Should I clean my skin prior to applying the patch?
Yes. Wash the area where you intend to place the patch and thoroughly dry it before applying the patch.
Is the patch affected by skin lotions, creams or make-up?
Any of these will interfere with the patch’s ability to adhere to your body and they might interfere with the movement of Vitamin D from the patch to your skin.
If I am on medications can I still wear the patch?
Yes. Consult with your HCP if you have questions about the advisability of taking Vitamin D.
